Who are we?

Born out of the realisation there was no one doing overland focussed content in the New Zealand market, the idea for Overland NZ was formed on the long drive home from Cape Reinga to Wellington - provide high quality content that inspires people to get out there and explore New Zealand.

Overland NZ kicked off early 2018 and has quickly grown into one of New Zealand’s biggest off road and overland content outlets with a highly engaged audience.

The core crew consists of Daniel and Chloe. We've toured large parts of New Zealand together and individually over the last few years and have a never-ending list of places we want to see in this amazing country.

Daniel and Chloe travelled the country together for years in the back of their old Hilux Surf, snapping photos and getting friends amped up to go do the same. Daniel’s love of cars, photography and toys crossed with Chloe’s lifelong love of camping all came together on that drive where we decided - “let’s give this a shot”

Today, Overland NZ has a large organic social media presence with over 13,000 combined followers on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Since 2020, our YouTube channel has had over a million views, with our viewers watching over 75,000 hours of original content. We grew our worldwide subscribers by 10,000 followers.

Our mobile application, Overland Navigator, now has over 20,000 registered users with new features and content being added regularly.

We're always looking for awesome companies and organisations to work with!

We believe that everyone should be able to get out and enjoy the outdoors, camping and four wheel driving whilst exploring in comfort and safety with the best equipment for the job.

We love getting out into nature and bringing our fans along with us through our photography, videos and stories. We've quickly gained a dedicated following in the New Zealand offroading and overlanding communities and aim to produce high quality content that's consistently engaging.

We're pretty picky when it comes to what we'll promote - it has to align with our beliefs and needs to provide value to our followers. We don't want to promote "just anything".

If you have an awesome product, service or cause we'd love to hear from you and see what we can do together.

“Bloody good job on the video and promoting the from your end. We certainly had a lot of new followers, engagements with previous posts from new followers along with increased website traffic from Instagram so definitely a success our end.”

— Ross, 4WD Warehouse

What we can offer

An audience

With one of the largest offroad and overlanding presences in New Zealand, Overland NZ can bring eyeballs to your products or services. With a focus on Youtube, Instagram and Facebook, we create content to fit each platforms format to ensure the greatest possible engagement - no ‘one size fits all’ here!

Photography

Photography is where we started - and still the core of what we do. Daniel has been shooting for ~10 years semi-professionally and spends far too much time shooting what you see on Instagram, Facebook and this site.

As a general, we don’t do product photography/direct advertising, preferring more to focus more on telling the story of using the product and how they improve our lives.

We do however post specific content for each partner that we work with to ensure the product gets shown off in the best light.

Video

Trips, tips, installs, how tos and advice - we love jumping in front of the camera and bringing people along on our adventures!

Video opens the doors for subtle product placement and proper in detail looks at stuff. People love Youtube videos - whether it be trips, installs or gear - and the content last the test of time, we frequently get questions on older videos.

Community

Overland NZ is well known in the New Zealand overlanding community as a go to place to ask questions and seek information about trips people want to do.

Daniel is also an active member of multiple overlanding focussed Facebook groups and offers advice to people in there too.

Rhino-Rack catches up with Overland NZ

Overland NZ was formed on a long drive home from Cape Reinga to Wellington. Since early 2018, they have been sharing their amazing adventures around the country and inspiring people to explore New Zealand. We recently caught up with Daniel from Overland NZ to find out what the crew has been up to, his favourite spots to go 4WDing, and how Rhino-Rack complements his own adventures.

Traveling With A Newborn

Having a baby ends your touring and overlanding right? Or at the very least curtails it for a few years, you and your partner are stuffed, locked in to some serious home time. Or does it? Daniel and Chloe from Overland NZ have returned from a South Island roadie with their two month old! Crazy? ambitious? Reckless parenting? The couple explain…

Recreational Society

We sat down with Craig from Recreational Society and explored where Overland NZ has been and where we’re off to.
